When toxic, abusive people deny the damage they have done to you, a part of your validity and integrity are instantly diminished. It is up to you to validate yourself. Abusive people will deny everything and can, at times, make you believe that you are in the wrong and not them. So grateful that I’m dating somebody who’s willing to talk through any issues and see each others points of view/understanding. My previous relationship consisted of a lot of screaming, threatening and emotional/physical abuse. Almost every interaction we had was negative. I honestly never thought I’d get over him. Now it’s difficult for me to understand why I stayed for so long.
